In the next couple of posts I'm going to write about some of the recordings that are available for download on www.dryhillstudios.com/artists/ The first recording I wanted to cover is Deep Night from the Gallodoro album The Infinite Gallodoro. This was one of the first recordings that I did after construction started on Dryhill Studios, and we decided to track the band at the West Kortright Center and mix it at Dryhill. We chose the Center because of its great
room sound, and ample space to do a live band recording. I also do live sound at the center during the performance season, so I was already familiar with the hall. Disc 1 of The Infinite Gallodoro was recorded in two sessions July 20th and 21st 2004. The first session was just Al Gallodoro (playing alto saxophone, clarinet, and bass clarinet) and Joann Bertone Chmielowski (playing piano), and the second was with the full band including Tom Wetmore (playing bass) and Lou Colone playing drums.
Before recording the album I had talked to Al and Joann about the sound that they wished to achieve in the recording. We decided to record the album using our Otari 8 track analog reel to reel machine, and then a transfer to Pro Tools where any needed editing could be done
Thank you so much for an awesome night at The Autumn. Great vibe, great energy, great way to start the winter!
A special thanks to the artists:
And a very, very special thanks to everybody that got down:
The response to the new website has been amazing and we're really looking forward to things to come.
As for this blog, I intend on writing about music in my life, whether it be at the studio, teaching, or just listening. Hope to see you back here soon!
